I bought this Pottery bowl at the thrift store. It was one of those that you pick up then you put down one to go back and pick it up again... They are having a buy one get one free sale so why not?

At first I thought it was yellow Ware but now I'm not sure because in the light it looks like there was some air bubbles and it shows a more white base underneath. I'm not sure if the yellow comes from baking it or if that's a glaze over the top of this.

Anyways I was reading about yellow Ware and it says if you hold it and you flick it and it rings it's an English piece if it thuds it's American, this one rings.

Can anyone tell me "what" this is and if this is an older piece or a recent piece a beginner potter made?

The clay showing through the glaze pops is red, so it's not yellow ware. I've seen this shape of bowl called milk bowls, so that might help you find more in this shape and glean more info. Red ware milk bowl.

I just thought that was discoloration from age/use.
If you look at the popped air bubble on the side and the bottom it's white?

SeaGoat, I think the white is under coat or base coat applied before the shiny glaze.
