Featured Help with company name on silver mirror

    Art nouveau mirror with sterling hallmarks identify this as being made in 1906, Birmingham England. But I can't make out the company name C & ? Co.     Still trying to find out what the material is underneath. It looks really black, could it be gutta percha or something like that?

    Not sure if they used some sort of resin/wax, I’m sure others here will know.

    Cutler's resin/pitch,it's the same material used to fill thin sterling knife handles,etc...

    Unfortunately that happens with this type of relatively thin repoussé silver. Especially if a former owner ordered the servants to polish the silver every week.;) She may have been a bit heavy handed when putting her mirror down as well.:nailbiting:
