I inherited a houseful of antiques. My mom died in January and I need to learn what things are worth so I can pay her Medicaid debt. My ancestors were early Oregon settlers. I am overwhelmed! I have dishes, books, art, ephemera...you name it. I hope I can learn here so I can avoid getting taken.

Welcome to the forums! I assume you have been named executor of her estate, if you haven't you need to need to make sure all of the proper documentation is complete in the courts. If it is likely her debts far exceed the worth of the remaining estate you may just want to walk away and let the chips fall where they may -- I know its hard but her debt isn't the responsibility of you (and possible other heirs) if the estate is insufficient. A quick consultation with a probate attorney may be a good first step if you haven't already.
