So I picked up this painting at a local Goodwill because I just liked everything about it. I paid about $20 for it.

I brought it home and started researching the artist. It looks like the artist name is Gubern and the year is "41". I found an Alfonz Gubern on askart.com and this is one of his works:

Do you see similarities or am I just wishful thinking...again.
    Thanks

I see SOME similarities, but not enough to land on it being done by the same artist.

Not by the same painter to my eye, Sherri.

As usual, a photograph including the frame both front and back would help. And close-ups of any stickers, labels or handwritten notations.

    Or Gutierrez
I see an i after the t, which would be a more common spelling. And, unfortunately for identifying the artist, an extremely common surname.

Thank you for posting photograph of the frame. It's Mexican so a Spanish surname like Gutiérrez not un-fitting. Dunno where you found your painting but with those adobe-style buildings in background, looks Southwestern. Perhaps its set at the duck pond at University of New Mexico, which was constructed in 1977.

It's in a "doubled" Mexican frame with textile fabric, so I propose it was framed in or shortly after the 1970s.
