Cast Iron Pig Bank

    Does anyone know anything about these? There are faint markings on the side. After researching it a little bit I think it says 'Souvenir Chicago Stockyard'. The rough dimensions are 5" tall and 9.5" long. I separated the two halves and one has a '1' marking whereas the other has a '3' marking. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    GREAT enlarged photos!
    I believe Chicago had the largest stockyard in the US at one time...maybe still...maybe in the world...at the time....but maybe still. :)
    I can't read it but I'd say it is likely.
    Circa when...no idea but it's cool! :)
    Pig item collectors may squeal all the way to the bank to get it!

    Very nice, but I don't think it's old...check the Phillips screw.

    The lack of clarity to the writing and the phillips head screw indicates that this is a reproduction. There were some reissues done in the 70s but they are better than this, plated brass, and had a standard screw. The originals from the 40s were 13" long. The reissues were about 10".

    FYI, the Union Stockyards in Chicago closed in the early 1970s... just looked up the date -- it was 1971.
