I have a Gucci sterling laqeur ring with the marks EJld on it. I did find one bangle on the net which was sold in auction and they mentioned it was a makers mark but they were not clear who the maker was. Any ideas who EJLD was or what it stands for.

    Any info/input is welcome.

Thx for the input @Debora. The silver sites were the first where I looked and I've also seen this mark relating to the company you've mentioned.

Only thing what confused me is that Gucci made their items in Italy. That is why I didnt take much notice of this. Or did they also produced their items in the UK in the 1970s???

GUCCI may well have made its leather goods in Italy in the 1970s but that may not have been true of its jewelry line. If you have an item with a clear English maker's mark (which is widely found on other GUCCI jewelry of the period) think you're safe to assume genuine. Doesn't affect piece's value.

Just wanted to add that designer brands often outsource a product line. For instance, TIFFANY & CO doesn't manufacture watches but you can spend $$$$$ for a branded TIFFANY watch.

Thx all. You are spot on @Debora.
I was very curious about this from a learning perspective.. It always confused me because many products and some jewellery of Gucci reads 'made in Italy'. So I assume if doesn't read made in Italy its from somewhere else. My wife must not read this. She likes only stuff from Italy :)

Well, nowadays "Made in Italy" means just that but with inexpensive, migrant labor. Doesn't mean the same post-World War II hand-crafted quality it used to.
