Featured What a ding-a-ling, I am! Silver Bells

Not sure what I have but with plenty of research now ahead, I was happy to acquire these 16 silver bells at a couple hundred dollars less than the melt value of the approximately 70 ounces of silver.

Hoping to have at least a couple of good ones in there.

 

An instant "collection!" And from, or at least representing, places all over the world.

Was that last picture supposed to show a mark?

 

Yes, a very diverse collection of 900 and 925 silver. I will remove the last image since it is not discernable. I may be posting additional images as my research stalls.

 

Is that guy in the long overcoat Churchill?

 

Yes, it is and I believe we have a napolean as well

 

I was wondering about a possible Napolean too, but this one doesn't have his hand inside his coat, does he?

 

In the Netherlands we call them table bells, to call the servants. I don't know if that is the correct term in English.

 

Is each bell marked as to the subject?

Am I seeing an "Amerigo Vespucci" and perhaps a "Vasco da Gama"?

 

The one on the far left is modeled after a pre-Columbian Mochica portrait stirrup vessel, from Peru. There seem to be two more pre-Columbian inspired bells.
The lady with the fan is from Andalucia, southern Spain.
There is a cute American rendition of a Dutch girl from Volendam.

 

Unfortunately, this is all that I have to work with now. Acquired via online auction and waiting for the pieces to arrive. I guess that I should wait and be more patient on posting.

Anyone want to venture a guess on age range or do you want to wait until I can publish some marks?

 

Your impatience is totally understandable, but some are a bit hard to judge right now. I for one am looking forward to the arrival of more detailed photos.

He lost his right arm. He also lost an eye. I guess he was a bit careless, losing body parts all over the place.
