Onyx bead necklace with a sterling bear and cross. The bear is not marked, but the cross has a seahorse mark on it. I have looked and looked for the mark on the cross and can't find it anywhere.

Any ideas on origin and that maker's mark?

Bears in that shape are sometimes called Fetish, so maybe you might look in the direction of Native American. just my 2cents

Another good search term might be "spirit bear," (one name used for this shape bear in the US SW) as in "spirit bear and cross necklace." (for which I got no images similar to yours, sorry)

The bear design is Zuni, but the necklace itself probably isn't.

Thanks everyone. I wondered if the bear was a zuni bear, but the onyx beads threw me. Could easily be a one-off that someone put together which would explain the construction of the necklace.

I'd still like to know if anyone has ever seen that seahorse mark.

Here's the seahorse I'm seeing, but maybe it is a bird or something else.

Well you gots those tiny little squirrel eyes.......so maybe looks different from there !! :hilarious::hilarious:

Your outline does leave out part of the mark above the tail........
    so...I'm going with...not a seahorse !! ;):(

LOL, yeah, I did notice that tail while I was making the outline.

I'll try looking for bird hallmarks. Anyone else see a different type of animal?

Thanks for the suggestion komokwa. I've been so fixated on the seahorse idea that I didn't look for much else.

I think it looks like a bird with tail feathers...
