Pocket icon missing its case. The Annunciation by the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin.

 

It has two holes in the back (at the top), so I think it had one of those watchamacallits with two small nails and a triangular wall hanging thing on the back. (I know.... )
Given its size it could have been meant to hang in a small space like a monk's or nun's cell.

That's possible, it may have also been sold generally to Catholics. Our church used to sell all sorts of tat to the faithful.

And I think it is a bit more recent than Daguerreotypes.
