PicsArt_10-02-04.22.04.jpg PicsArt_10-02-04.23.01.jpg PicsArt_10-02-04.23.55.jpg Goodday all. I hope someone can help. I have researched it a bit. It looks like aurora borealis crystals. I cannot find anything on the mark. With great magnification the mark looks as if it says V154 or something similar there is also a 300 next to it which is more visible.

    Thanks in advance.

V154 not ringing any bells for me. Yes on the Aurora Borealis (AB) coating. A bit nicer than some of the 3 strand costume necklaces you see, love the blue glass in there. Wait and see if anyone recognizes the V154.

Meanwhile, the clasp is quite ornate, looks like marcasites in the top. I'm wondering if there is a chance that mark on the back is just a worn "800", not "300"?? A little unusual to have a silver clasp on something like this, but you never know! Would mean 80% silver if yes.

I guess it's possible, I ordered some silver testing solution, I will definitely test it. Thanks

I'd put the time period at 1950s/60s.

I think so. And the V154 could be VI54, which would make it an Italian mark for a maker in Vicenza.

Thank you all for the feedback. Much appreciated. Just for some extra info. I live in South Africa, Pretoria. I found this piece in a thrift store. Thanks again.

That mark to the right looks very much like the appropriate shape for an Italian silver mark, post WWII, but worn. And the "300" to it's left is possibly a worn 800 for the silver fineness.

Took the words right out of my mouth. A lot of nice costume beads had silver clasps, back when. If the beads are Austrian, and the clasp is Italian it makes sense.
