I haven't got any info on this in "Antique Discussion" so it was suggested that I post this here. Any info would be greatly appreciated! P1050020.JPG P1050027.JPG P1050018.JPG P1050025.JPG P1050029.JPG

Well, I did say it was my grandmother's but I think it's been in my mom's closet since 1977 when she moved to Arkansas and I just dug it out last week. And I did say it was porcelain in the title of this thread. I didn't say it is 10" tall and 8 1/2" tall.
I can only pry that back cover partly open and the only writing I can see is a "6".

Clock cases are difficult to ID. The cases were often ordered by the clockworks manufacturers themselves and were sold through the clockmakers. Accordingly, they tended to carry the clockmakers marks rather then the pottery/china company's. I would think the clock was also sold unpainted and was either painted by a workshop or, perhaps, the owner. As the case is unsigned, and the clockworks face is also unsigned, it's possible this was produced as a decorator item sold through furniture stores and the like. Since we can't identify the case or access the works dating becomes problematic.

It clearly has a bit of age to it. I would date it to either just before or after WWII. It looks Federal style to me which was quite popular around the time of the war and into the 1970's. I'm thinking of Sabin China's courting couple dishes and the toll lamps produced around that time. This is all speculation on my part and I'm only looking at it from a pottery perspective. A clock guy, especially, may have a different opinion.

To be honest, the damage means the clock does not have much beyond sentimental value. I'm sorry I can't provide more assistance.

Thanks dgbjwc! Your info was helpful. Funny you should mention "furniture store" as my grandfather had a furniture store for 39 years starting in 1935 but he sold mainly used furniture as I recall.
