This Old Knife

I found this in a drawer with a bunch of vintage Navy stuff my brother had. Doesn't look to be Navy related but I'm usually wrong.
It is 9 3/4" long.
There is some writing where the blade meets the handle but it is SO small and worn that I can't make most of it out. And I'd never be able to photograph that with my old camera and poor photography skills. It looks something like this:

MIC?????SA

I assume that last part would be a USA.
Would this be called a "buck" knife or is that only a particular brand? Could it be Navy related? Any guesses on the age?

Thanks guys! The one you posted, Komokwa looks EXACTLY like it except that I can't see any trace of "Marbles" above the Gladstone. Maybe it wore off as this knife looks like it had lots of use. I do think that mine does say "Gladstone Mich USA, now that I have that info to work with.

I didn't know if one SHOULD clean stuff like this or if some would have a problem with that. It does need it! You aren't supposed to clean old guns, right?
