This stands 6 1/4" tall and measures 7" across the top. Opening measures about 3". No marks on base.

I think it's big enough to be considered a lady's spittoon but I don't think it was intended for that purpose. Looks hobbyist decorated to me.

    Hi,
Ladies spittoons were small enough so they could be held in your hand. Larger ones were made for home use by anyone who needed a spittoon. Just about all of the ones I have seen were rounded for easy cleaning. I think the one in the photo is just a flower vase.

    I was thinking that.
For just a bundle of flower heads with shortened stems.

Perhaps it's meant to hold the little flower bundles that bridesmaids' carry?
Maybe set on the reception tables or wherever...?

    Very true.

And in today's world it can be anything you want it to be.

At my Nephew's wedding they had those tiny battery powered string lights in canning jars and they were a hit!
    I liked them....took two! :)

Gee I go out to do yard work and find a ton of messages! The shape just screams spittoon. I just wanted opinions. The whole thing looks factory.
