Is this a pottery Santa?!

Hi Board Buddies! I've got a little pottery piece that I think might represent Santa. It stands about 5" tall. The basket itself is 2 3/8" deep so I don't think it's a toothpick but could be a match holder? It has a satin finish. Reminds me of early 1900's German but I really don't have much to go on. Any help with an ID would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I used to make pizzelles. I have a little device like a waffle iron. I might get it down this year. I'll probably need a new mixer though. I think my old one died. Shows you how long it's been since I baked.

I thought it was something entirely different, related to a Dutch word which I won't translate (I'd be thrown off the forum).
But Judy, I googled it and have learned something today, thank you.

I read somewhere that originally Santa didn't have a red cloak.

 

Nor HOT red lipstick...

 

I know some older Santas (Royal Bayreuth?) have a brown coat. They are considered more valuable than the red coat.

The coat color is what makes some Santa postcards more valuable. I have Santas in red some in blue, several in green some in brown and my favorite I two of him in
purple.
