My dad has held onto it for years after finding it at an auction and has always thought it was cool but has never looked into whether it is actually unique or not. The marking/engravibg appears to say EPNS 1702. Does anyone have any idea what this refers to? Thanks in advance!

    Electroplate on nickel silver. Made by Sheffield silver co. Nearly worthless.

    Hi and welcome to the board
    It is silver plate as mentioned.

    If you are looking to sell, there is little value in this type of silver plate. Although there are people who collect grape things. Still not much value.

    There is no reason not to polish it. However doing so will enhance even more where all the silver is scratched or worn through to the base metal.

    I wouldn't call it a plate. Not sure what it is. Server of some kind, or an under plate.

    I'd stick a glass bowl on top, add fruit or candy, and call it solved.
