Tiffany Mosaic

Went on a field trip yesterday with the local glass club to see a Tiffany mosaic. I was not prepared for the size of it, its's huge!!!

Unbelievably beautiful! The only problem is that in the 1970s some of the glass popped off and they decided to stabilize with a coat of lacquer. 40+ years later the lacquer has browned killing the vibrance of the glass. Now they are trying to find ways to finance having it restored

If anyone is ever in Houston, the Fine Arts museum has a large Tiffany window on permanent display. It's approx 7 feet tall and 11 feet wide.

And if anyone is in Philly, I think the largest Tiffany mosaic is in a building there. It was designed by Maxfield Parrish and executed by Tiffany:

When the person who built the building died he left it to multiple charities. They all decided they would make the most money to sell the mosaic separately from the building. There was a sale and the high bidder was secret. The town somehow canceled the sale and kept the mosaic in Philly, how I don't know. But it came out later that the high bidder owned the Bellagio in Las Vegan and it would have been moved to a casino
