Are These Glasses Antique?

    Hello,
I saved 5 of these glasses from a verge collection yesterday. They are just over 6 inches high and 2.25 across the top. They are quite heavy. I am hoping someone may be able to tell me what type of wine they would be used for and if they are modern or have some age to them. I can't remember seeing any modern wine glasses with this type of stem.
    Thank you :)

THEY APPEAR TO BE HANDMADE, handblown glass.

There are no makers mark on them that I can see and they have a very nice weight to them.

That stem style was quite common in the 50s and 60s. So fairly modern I think. Well done for rescuing.

I would, they'd be lovely to drink from. (No dishwasher!)

Sorry, I have to ask, what is a "verge collection"?

Wow, those are really nice, very attractive! I would definitely keep them for use.

And Marie, I think a verge collection is where people bring things they want to get rid of in the event that someone else might want it. But not real sure. That's just what the internet offered up. That, and a rock band called Verge Collection, LOL!

    Maybe Nemours, by Cristal D'Arques.

Here is Nemours from Cristal D'Arques for comparison.

Seems water, wine and cordial glasses were all the same ship. So which you have would depend on height.

Your image of the glass is identical!!! Thank you.
In Western Australia two or three times a year the council allows people to put all of their junk on the verge (nature strip) in front of their house. You can then go around the streets and pick through other people's junk and take what you want. What ever is left over the council picks up and takes to the rubbish tip

AHHH, people do that here also, though it isn't organized in any way. They just put things out in front of their house with a "FREE" sign on them whenever they feel like it :)

I can't believe some of the things people put out. I have to admit I am a serial verge collection stalker! :)

I'd count myself lucky if I found glasses like these. Here in the US the Verge is called the TreeLawn. The city owns it but we're responsible for its maintenance.

We call it the parkway in our neck of the woods.
