A Javanese girl, painted in Java, Indonesia. The ones I've seen were all painted on canvas. Bordering on kitsch, but I would have bought her for $3.
She is wearing the traditional kain-kebaya. The kebayas (shirts, often of sheer materials) became fitted (tight) around the mid-20th century.
This probably dates from the 1950s-60s. Market: domestic and tourist.

These girls also grace Indonesian walls.
Many kebayas are made of sheer materials, and it is not unusual for the corset to create a heaving bosom in those better endowed.:) The Javanese may be Muslim, but many are Javanese first. I have seen many girls and women with a similar look.
This is a kebaya with a more 'decent' corset:

That's a really pretty dress. If I was skinny enough, fat chance, I'd have a go at it. As things are I'd be five pounds of flour in a four pound sack. :)

Google kebaya, you'll see the most beautiful creations. And you'll see that the kebaya has travelled outside the tradition of Java and Madura.
I have several kain-kebaya and sarung-kebaya sets, but mine are a bit more appropriate for my age, mostly with lace.

You would get me looking at those.... They're pretty, and some of them are made with a modest cut. Covers the wrinkles and rolls.:cyclops::woot::arghh:
