I have a really neat picture that I picked up at a thrift store a while back. I’ve learned what I could about the print, but I can’t find anything out about the frame. I had a few leads, but they were dead ends. The framing business (Knabb-Lane Studios Natchez, MS) has zero info online. All I can make out are as follows: the label (pic provided), the cardboard backing company (pic provided), and a small bit of faded stamp which I *think* says “Made in Belgium” (pic provided). If anyone can take a guess at the year or point me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative. Thanks for your time! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sensibility of the piece suggests 1950's interior decoration, I don't think it could be much earlier than that ...

Agree with Blooey about 1950s interior decor frame.

@TheSpottyDog25 , please tell us - what did you learn about the print? :cat:

The print seems to be a stipple engraving by Jacques Philippe Levilly (active 1780–1800), after a painting by Jean-Frédéric Schall (1752-1825).
Titled: A Paris Chez Joly Md. D´Estampes – Quai de Gesvres
(I'm not sure if that's a title or where it was marketed. Pretty sure that's where it was available.)

Thanks, MOS. The print is lovely, looks older than the frame. Hard to see it tho. :smug:

Thank you so much for all of these amazing replies! I actually just learned more about the print than I initially gleaned from my research, so thank you for the in depth info.

I can take a better picture of the print for you so you can see the detail. Just waking up, so let me get my tea fix and I will snap some shots

I didn’t think it was a terribly old frame, but was hoping it went back to at least the 1970s. I’m not sure if it’s ok to post vintage in this forum, so if I’m breaking any rules, please let me know so I can be more cautious in the future. Don’t want to annoy anyone because this is an amazing forum with incredibly knowledgeable and helpful members! I’m really enjoying the learning process.

The frame does go back at least to the 1970s and I think earlier. Please do post whatever you wish. We don't have steadfast rules to break for "vintage" stuff. :joyful:

It will be best to make a new thread for each piece. Thanks

"A Paris Chez Joly Md. D´Estampes – Quai de Gesvres" is commonly cited on the internet as the title but... It's really information about the printer.
