dear all any idea who made this, when it was made and how to use it? the nib was hidden inside the main shaft. if the nib was attached, you could not close with the cap. you can only screw the cap head properly only the the nib is hidden. cannot see any way of "filling" the pen with ink. could this be one of those dip and write pens? the closeup of the nib is very blur but it says "Conway Stewart 14ct gold and the number 2" looks like the nib is worth quite a bit if i can clean it up? is the pen also a Conway Stewart pen? regards phaik hooi
If you can find a # on yours, perhaps you can match it up to the numbers given here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway_Stewart https://www.bespokebritishpens.co.uk/conway-stewart/
thanx! went to those sites before posting. just found this: http://conwaystewart.wesonline.org.uk/csbook/page1.htm doesn't look like a Conway Stewart pen. hopefully a pen expert will be able to tell me
yes tried to unscrew the bottom but it won't budge it has threads (see photo) for the cap to screw onto. here is a better photo of "hole" where the nib was. i thought may be the diamond shape on the cap would be a maker mark but i cannot find anything. sorry the photos are so blur.
Yep! See there, scroll down to eyedropper: http://www.richardspens.com/index_m.html?page=ref/fillers/fillers.htm
completely stuck! any suggestions as to how to "unstuck" it? do you think soaking in warm water would help? or a little ethanol in the hole? or ... ?
Soak in water for a day or two. Some suggest a pinch of borax in it. I haven't found the added borax to be any benefit.
dear terry5732 soak day2: something turned and the nib holder came out, but i cannot remember whether it was clockwise or anti-clockwise and not sure which part was rotating. now it cannot go back in!! soaking it for another day. thanx again for the advice regards phaik hooi
