Don't know much about this..says 1445 on the side with some felt on the bottom. A chip on the side reveals some kind of white fiber in it probably to keep it together.

    Welcome Kacie.
With that title I thought your thread would be about a historic event.;) That is why I looked, I don't know much about pottery.
I agree with komo though, looks like there is a mold connection. The number could be the model number, so the maker knew which one to use.
But let's wait for those more knowledgeable.:)

It appears to be modern and in pretty poor condition but it does have a certain look. You don't give a size?

It's a good size..about 8 and a quarter inches high and the top is about 11.5 inches the long way.

Welcome Kacie - It looks to me more like a composite of some type - almost a plaster. I don't think the lines you are seeing are an added fiber but rather the material itself. It's a bit more fragile than its size would suggest. The finish is chipping off and it was given a brown wash to give it an antique style. I think it is fairly modern and produced solely for decorative effect. Would like nice with artificial flowers or fruit.

I don't think anyone is seeing much to recommend this piece -- but it is striking and if you like it what's not to like?

60s-70s? Some sort of plaster mould (so maybe lots of them)? Painted finish? And probably never an expensive item, in my opinion (which is a humble one).

Thanks everyone. I love learning about the pieces I aquire. Can't wait to post some other things I have that I don't really know about. I love antiques! I love having knowledge on pieces I own or see in thrift shops.
