copy 1.jpg Hi Guys - hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

I purchased this yesterday in a charity shop. I know even less about glass as I do about china... so I did a little research which may be right or wrong!

I 'think' the pattern is Queens Lace, but I can't find a vase the same shape. It stands approx 11 inches high by 4.5 across and weighs over 2kg.

Can anyone give me an estimate of how old it may be and what it's worth... I paid five pounds for it.

    Many thanks!
    D

    Hi,
I do not know but would have purchased it if I saw it.

I just liked the look of it, and as my daughter had taken most of my vases to her flat I thought I'd have it for myself :)

Wonder if this could be a acid etched signature or makers mark.

Even though it isn't marked , you have a beautiful large and good quality crystal vase which is a steal at five pounds. I would have bought it too. If I bought it to flip I would expect I could sell it pretty easily for 50 to 75 pounds.
I would look at it carefully under a good strong light looking for an acid etched mark.I would look at the bottom and the side edge of the foot first, then along the top edge. Most makers put the etch in a non obvious place.

It probably had a Bohemia/Czech sticker.

I don't want to bring excess moisture to your outing, (rain on your parade) BUT I believe the body of the vase was pressed, and the gray multi-line stars were cut to qualify it for cut glass so it could be imported with a lower import fee. If this is the case it's from the third quarter of the 20th century or later. Possibly from Turkey.

The frosting on the stars (called grey cutting) is the dead giveaway that it's a fairly recent import. At least that's my understanding.

Ahhhh, sand. Means I have a few pieces of the same stuff. I’ll have to post and ask about them. Still pretty

Took it to someone and apparently it's Czech Bohemia Queens Lace... :)
