I think it may have some age but no idea who made it.
Too bad the top layer has chips. Seems like it did not fuse well to the lower layer.

 

That's the secret of AirTrap wares. It wasn't fused at all, had a tiny pocket of air. When the entire piece is frosted, the pocket of air reflects through the frosting to give a "mother of pearl" effect. Unfortunately the outer layer of glass is very thin, therefore fragile. Due t it's popularity, MOP wares have been heavily reproduced. Originating about 1900, (plus or minus) the market was flooded with them in mid 20th century. If yours has a sharp pontil, it's probably a more recent product.

 

Thanks for the info. It does have pontil but not sharp. Good scratch wear on the bottom edges. Who were the original makers that produced this type of ware?

Obviously J. Webb made it, or at least held a patent on it. K Wilson, in his books on Mt. Washington was very careful to say that while they may have advertised some air trap wares, they don't seem to have made enough to survive to today. Hobbs, Brockunier did make a little, but it is exceedingly rare. It (the H B wares) is not well developed as the above piece, being a raindrop type. Ihave one piece, have seen pictures of two others. Don't expect ever to see any. Phœnix, before 1887 made quite a bit of it. Their glass master was a Webb. In fact, the patent above was his, Joseph Webb.
