    British-born Mexican artist Leonora Carrington collaborated with the exiled Spanish sculptor José Horna on this roulette-style horse-racing game around 1954. Horna carved the wheel and its setting; Carrington provided the lithographed horses. An accompanying set of instructions explains how the game can be played by two to eight people

    Always on the point of take-off, this duck brooch by Vacheron & Constantin clearly needs to be pinned firmly in place. Dating from about 1970, it has a circular-cut diamond for an eye, a cluster of carved rubies for its body, and calibré-cut turquoise for its webbed feet

    I always like these posts.

    Interesting that the face in the bannerman scroll was painted by a European. The Jesuits were a very powerful presence at the Chinese court of the 18th C.

    I too love Christie's Goodies.....NOT that I'm about to buy any:joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful:.....I wonder what @Bronwen thinks about this cameo????? I think it's lovely, but that's about all I know about it!! And then a Bee for @kyratango!!!!! :happy::happy: And of course, the duck that Spring posted IS adorable!!!!

    I think it is an excellent piece with a boring subject. These bejewelled women in lacy collars became a type in the late 19th century & there are lots of them out there, although not all so finely executed of course.
