    Hi All
I am not sure of a glass I came across as I could not see makers mark on it except several metallic coat of arms around the glass . Can anyone help with the coat of arms and its origin?
I have attached a photo trimming the background. I have also put the coat of arms alone.
    thanks in advance!

Not sure I'd call that a glass. Hard to see from photograph and depending on size, "goblet" or "chalice" might be a better description.

I came across that useful Wiki article while researching that other thread involving a double-headed eagle. With one foot holding a sword, the eagle looks very like the one seen on the Greek Orthodox Church flag, and also on the flag of Austria.
The symbol has been so widely used that it is rather hard to pin down, and the device on the shield is not very distinct.

    Russian federation:

    Greek Orthodox Church:

And there are probably a number of other possibilities; neither is an exact match for yours.

The piece may date to the Biedermeyer period in Germany/Austria, ca. 1830 - 1850.

thanks all fakes and cheryll...since I approach all items on antique sale these days with the "everything is fake unless proven otherwise" mentality,my natural feeling when I saw the piece is that it is a Chinese dupe..But I gave it some doubt when i saw the coat of arms have some fading...

It looks like a 19th c pressed glass goblet, embellished with the stones or colored glass pieces and the eagle. The eagle seems to be related to Austria, not sure abou the coat of arms.

That does look like quite a close match. I can't make a guess as to whether the goblet is 19th or 20th century though.

I agree, Austro-Hungarian Empire, simplified. Since some of what was once part of that empire was Bohemia, famous for its glass...

Perhaps a souvenir replica of something in a museum; maybe the invention of the maker.
