British? Oil lamp

  2. To find out who made it will need research on the crossed torches logo on the wick handle. 'Kosmos' refers to the style of the lamp glass and I have attached an example. The lamp glass on yours appears to have been replaced as it looks like a Vienna style glass.

    Respectfully disagree, Vincent. "Kosmos" indicates the style of burner, developed in Germany in 1865 by Wild and Wessel.

    See the post in this link by our dear departed Ladybranch who was the go-to member for anything related to oil lamps.

    You can still buy Kosmos and Kosmos-Brenner style burners and related parts, although I would think that the design of the wheel on this one is actually old.
