Featured great great grandma's betel nut box set

    dear all

    this belongs to my great great grandmother. the burmese connection by way of being part burmese or chinese settlers in burma is not known. i believe (unconfirmed) that she died in the 1930s. this set is probably late 19th C? the gold looking paper is state express cigarette wrapper :joyful::hilarious: i cleaned the lacquerware with a damp cloth. the pinang, sirih and kapur containers were not tarnished at all.
    burmese lacquer has been around since the 13th C but it's use could have been much earlier. can anyone tell me how to date burmese lacquerware? would the writings on some pieces indicate period? can't read burmese though :rolleyes::D

    tq! saw that and thought i could get a bit of information about how to date lacquerware, because these family stories can be soooooo unreliable! :playful::hilarious::D;):D:p:rolleyes:
