I am thinking about buying this desk, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I tried to find similar pieces online, and it seems like this piece is probably midcentury, Italian manufacture, with "patchwork" marquetry veneer, possibly olive burl?

I asked my mom, who was an antique dealer for many years, but she has never seen anything like it, either. It's not dovetailed at all, and I can find no maker's marks or really any markings whatsoever.

Here's a link to a very similar piece I found:

When I first looked at it before reading, my reaction was Italian veneer.
However, trying to find something similar, the legs and handles seem to be associated with late 1800s early 1900s French furniture.

Would think fairly modern Italian. Watered down French styling...... basic form but without the details.
