You mean the one in Pushkin, Russia at Catherine's Palace?

Was there in June. It was astonishing. Bought a box made of the amber used in restoring the room. Here it is.

Slobbering over the China in a charity shop is definitely going to get me thrown out or possibly even arrested.
    I like my dark closet.

Thank you. I got it at the museum attached to the palace. it came with a certificate that confirmed it made from left over bits from construction of the actual room, so I got to carry a piece of it back.

Wow, what a great souvenir with a special story behind it! I just looked at some pictures of the amber room at Catherines palace on google. It is amazing, and the history of the room is also very interesting. I hope to see it with my own eyes someday!

Twenty years in the wanting and two years in the planning. St Petersburg and its environs are fantastic.

I bet! Visiting some of the major cities in Russia is definitely on my bucket list. I love the onion domes that are common in their architecture.

My primary goal was the Hermitage Museum, which holds 3 million art objects ranging from rooms and rooms full of old Masters to a building dedicated to more modern art. Then there was the Faberge, the ballet, the music, of course the buildings and the canals. Give yourself time to explore.

OK, revisiting this one more time (hope nobody minds)! I finally got one of those handy dandy little UV flashlights and went in to the closet with it so to speak. First pic taken in 'closet' dark (they look like olives, haha); second pic taken in 'under the table' dark (in this one you can see the natural color along with the 'fluorescent' color). They both look different than the one I posted a year ago. Are either of these what we are looking for when we use the UV light on amber as a test??? As always, looking forward to and appreciating all input!

    Hi Wenna!
It certainly looks like amber but I am an amber closet amateur still but if I got that reaction I’d be very hopeful :)

The second one is much closer: that diffused veil rather than a bright blue dot.

The blue dots are reflections of the flashlight I think, couldn't figure out how to avoid that.

It can be tricky: you need to sort of angle the thing. If all you see is a blue dot with no veil, then not amber. Your second one in low, rather than pitch dark is the one. I also tend to look in daylight.

Thank you for that observation @Ownedbybear...I will keep that in mind. When I got the flashlight the first thing I grabbed was this necklace and just looked at it under the table and thought, oh yeah, maybe that's it! Then took it to the closet and saw the olive green color (huh, what now?). It is a learning experience for sure. I'll get it some day I hope!

I thought that milky green is exactly what you want to see in amber under UV.

The colour can vary but it's more of a blue than green when it's opaque amber. Usually.

Wenna, it looks like your necklace is roughly the same colour as my Baltic egg yolk amber heart pendant.
Daylight and UV photos, with that special shaking hand effect:
