Small wooden box with maybe gesso? decoration, help please

    Not sure what this box is exactly. Parts of it look very old, and others, maybe not? Is that plywood on the bottom? Is the top decoration gesso? Any ideas on age or anything at all:wacky: is very welcomed, and thanks for your time. Oops, I forgot to take a pic of the hinges, and will do that in a few minutes.:)

    Size?
    Looks like the jewelry boxes of the 30s - 40s.
    Would have had a mirror in the top.

    Also looks like someone has decoupaged the heck out of it.

    Box is old. The lady figure looks 30s-40s. All that crazy gesso looks 70s. Very weird combination

    Looks as if someone built the box and added the old top to it.

    Looks somewhat similar to something my Mother made in a Manual Training Course back in the 1930's.

    Thanks so much everyone, Komokwa, Bev, Cluttered, Rayo & Erstwhile, I really appreciate all the opinions. It is an odd little box.
    So, for listing purposes, would it be best to call it a jewelry box? Thanks again for all the help.:)
