    Hi,

Really confused about this cat with European signature but very beautiful Japanese style made-to-measure box.

I think it might be a vintage replica?

Thanks so much for your thoughts!

    Hi talissa,

Could you please click on full image when you post pictures? Here is how:

Don't know about the cat, but the box is Chinese. You can buy these in any size, as a gift box. So the cat could have been made somewhere else, and put in the box by a person who wanted to make it a special present for someone.
By the way, I like your Paris-London-Rabat origin.:)

Welcome, Talissa! The enlarged pictures will help but from what I can see I believe your kitty is relatively new Chinese. If nothing else the box your cat is sitting in is the type of box the Chinese use to ship some of their items. The mark does look familiar but I can't place it right now. Regardless, it's not that unusual for Asian pieces to have marks using English letters.

Hello! Thank you for reminding me how to enlarge the pictures i completely forgot how foolish of me :) As for the box i ment to say that it was fitted for the cat in the sense that the fabric molds the object. since the picture is small its impossible to see. It could have been a present yes! it does feel personal... DSC_0603.JPG

Hi! Thank you for the welcome and taking the time to explain what you know :)
I would have thought it to be from the 1970's because of the style but I am probably mistaken.

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer on the date. When I said "relatively new" I meant within the last 50 years. I keep forgetting how long ago the 70's was!:shame: The 70's is certainly possible. If I know my flowers I think those are magnolias. They are quite popular in the southern USA and were (and still are) used as decorations on all kinds of ceramics.

Magnolia don't have notched petals. Think more likely meant to be dogwood with a bit of poetic license.
