Metal Crumb Tray Japanese or Chinese

    Hi,
    Would this be Japanese or Chinese? What type of hair would be used for the brush? I thought Japanese but...
    Any information appreciated

    It's a crumb tray and brush. Used to sweep the crumbs from tablecloth after a meal. It appears Japanese to me, but wait for other opinions.

    edit. Sorry, you knew what it was, my bad, didn't read your heading.
    What kind of hair ... maybe boar hair.

    It's nicer than most.
    Might be silver and gold plated.

    Looks like the plating on the brush is peeling off in spots.

    This style was very common for awhile. I have a dresser set that includes a picture frame, pin tray, and two boxes of different sizes. I have also never seen one with the gilt. Very nice set even if it has some issues.
