I need help identifying

    I see no marking of any kind on the bottom or on any wood.

    American, late 19thc, probably maple stained red to simulate mahogany

    Could be; I had one recently that was actual mahogany. Without a label it's virtually impossible to ascertain the maker. It could have been made at any one of hundreds of local furniture manufacturers. Blooey's right about the date; I'd say 1890-1910. Empire revival, part of a multi-piece parlor set.
