New member blah blah

Came across this site and was impressed by the level of knowledge. I have been on another antique site for a couple years but it seems that the members there with few exceptions have very little experience with antiques, and are basically just moderately good googlers. I think I have some interesting things to show and will try to do so soon.

I've had the antique bug for decades starting when we were furnishing our house, but didn't have time to do much more antique hunting until my kids had grown up. The market has changed a lot (in a downward direction) since we were furnishing our house thirty years ago, so I'm glad we didn't go overboard with our purchases back then, because I see a lot now at much more reasonable prices so I upgrade when I find something really nice. I live in the Boston area, and there are still a lot of nice old antiques kicking around, which keeps me on the hunt.

Since I'm out there looking anyway, and since I run across a lot of good stuff cheap in the process, I started selling mainly MCM furniture at a local antique mall - I sell mostly MCM because this seems to attract a lot more buyers. I buy cheap mostly damaged that aren't attractive to others and fix/restore as needed, so I have a lot of experience repairing and refinishing. So besides early american furniture, I've handled a lot of MCM, and have been learning all I can about metals (I have a lot of antique brass, pewter, silver); ceramics, glass and artwork. And Asian objects, etc, etc. Oh and I was a drummer in a punk band many moons ago so I also know a lot about vintage drums (and thus my name).

Hi, as a newbie you may have experienced a similar problem to the following... I have been trying register on this site for days, no confirmation emails sent to me despite repeated requests and no response from the admin contact email address. I see people are posting so is there a problem with registration?

 

This has happened to other people -- but not to everybody. Unfortunately, there are often delays in getting these things worked out. I see you posted in another thread to try to get help. Sorry!
