Yes and actual assault weapons have been illegal since 1933 as this is.

I read that MAD article and see they offered a couple of Custer Battlefield guns. I won’t bore you with the details, but I once owned an old firearm that later (after I sold it) was forensically proven to have been used at the Battle by a Native American warrior. It later went on to sell at a Julia Auction for what at that time was the highest price ever achieved for an American firearm. Drat!

My parents had an awesome pistol....will post when I dig up image shortly.....they were told by a gun dealer 'individual' it was worth 50K-80K.....and he wanted to take it to Texas to an auction....parents didn't know him that well, so it never left their hands....they figured they'd never see it again or hear from him again!!!! When I had to settle the estate....I still had it and 2 bros wanted their share.....images sent to auction houses & local shop.....all came up with around 6K....so local fine antiques shop had a buyer at that price....I didn't really want to sell, and figured I'd buy out bros if I could.....so I stuck firm to 8K....this is back in 2004.....and got it! But was still terribly sad to see it go. It was one of a pair....the other was lost in a fire.....here's the image I kept...we always called it the "cod gun".....
