  1. Has anyone ever seen an error on the makers mark? Is this rare and make it worth collecting? The word "Crow" should be "Crown".

Generally Chinese copiers use errors and misspelling to fool collectors.
Think its Chinese and not worth much but could easily be wrong so please wait for others.

I'd say if the top one is legit...the bottom one has a few problems....

The mark looks really dodgy. Looks like a Chinese piece trying to fool.

Why relate copiers to Chinese? Cannot copiers be Latins, Europeans, Russians, or Americans?
If it is a copy, I would rather think it is a japanese copy or American copy. Because I saw an American electric capacity manufacture used the name "Rukycon" to manipulate the famous brand "Rubycon" of japan between 2005 to 2011.

Sure, they all can......but the Chinese have a bad reputation for making copied ( read Fake..) products in a wide variety of markets, and when they do....the english spelling & grammatical errors are the 1st things that stand out !

This is a pretty well known mark of Arnart, a 5th Avenue importer of mostly Japanese items. It would not be worth much whether marked with correct spelling or not.

Quite right. Could be anyone but at the moment there are hundreds of bad news stories about Chinese businesses faking almost everything under the sun. There seems to be an enormous industry there at the moment selling bootleg copies and fake copies so I currently assume anything fake that is both valuable and or collectible was probably made in China. I suspect I would have at least an 70% chance of being right.
