2 large flat baskets woven

I have these 2 large somewhat flat with low sides woven tray baskets or what ever they are called. Has anyone ever seen any like this ? Or does anyone know where, when, who made them ?

What I'd think would be French willow cheese trays. But could be wrong.

Hi Debora, I seen those but the biggest one on that site is 15" and my biggest one is 27".

 

Billy, even when I was a kid, we always had a few of those around - including the really big ones. They used to come as the "base" for gift baskets, filled with fruit and/or cheeses and meats and mustards and crackers and things like that.

In the late 1980's and first half of the 1990's, I had a neighbor who owned a gift basket company. She had stacks of these flat baskets in her basement and would lend me a few when we needed them for parties at our house. We'd use them for everything from bread to cheese to cookies.

I don't think they're very pricey, but they're handy to have around, and they're much nicer than those plastic trays some of the caterers use!

 

I don't know much about them, but the woven basket look seems to be sort of in now for decorating walls and such with.
