It was just too cute to pass up for 3 dollars. I'm thinking 40s on the photos? What do you guys think?

It looks a lot older - maybe 1910. There were commercial photos taken then and published in similar frames. The clothing could be 1940s, boy's clothes didn't change all that much, but the rest looks a lot older.

Well I'm no expert at all so I would'nt be surprised if my guess was wrong it is very well put together the way they mounted the pictures looks professional but then again I'm no expert

I'd think a bit later than 1910. Boys were still photographed in middy blouses and some such then. As children rather than little men. And argyle was a post-World War I fashion. Here's a boy's clothing catalog page from 1935 which features similar shorts and overalls which looks close. With the exaggerated waist and collar sweep, I'd even think a tad later into the 1940s.

Oh, and I think you did fine with your investment. That was one loved child. He deserves (another) good home.

What an adorable little boy and wonderful photos.

Jakes vintage, do you have a magnifying glass that you could use to see what the writing (clothing brand?) is on his shirt in the second photo? His overalls/coveralls
"almost" look like the coveralls used a "long" time ago by automobile mechanics and/or service station employees. ;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Sweet pictures! I was also thinking earlier than 1940s.

Coveralls! Thank you. Could only think of the word in British (boiler suit) and Spanish (mono.) Here's a 1930s ad featuring very similar. And, at closer glance, think collar appears to be exaggerated because "play suit" was bought to be grown into (hence turn-ups at cuffs and hem.)

Methinks 30's as well. Except for sneakers, high-topped shoes were mostly out by the 40's.

And look at those prices in Debora's ad!

I have a very similar set of photos of my Dad in a sailor suit, even similar poses, similar style. similar age of boy. He was born in 1918 and I guessed his photos were taken about 1924-26.

Looks like that to me too, & not so long ago as all that. I'm noticing how much the sleeves & legs have been rolled up, making me wonder whether the shorts & sweater are his own clothes but the grease monkey suit something the photographer kept on hand, the way they kept props & vintage furniture.

Studio photographers were still using these poses in 1956:

Got the same set of three of my father as a boy (I think my brother has the set or I'd post a photo.) Three different poses, but in our case, all the same outfit. It was taken 1929, maybe plus or minus a year.

A very professional looking series of pictures in the set here and the outfits are amazing! Cute little boy. He'd be in his 90's now, if still alive.

We had to liquidate my parent's estate 3 years ago. They had a number of framed antique family photos like this (stored in their closet) and as letting things go had to decide, "what to do with them?" So we took them and they are now being stored in our closet here. They are not something I have space for on my wall, don't go with my decor. Still, could not just throw them out or donate.

With more and more online, this is one worry the next generation won't have.
