It is is oil on masonite I think, about 25 inches X 21 inches. Executed with a palette knife.

I can't quite make out the signature, looks like "Beckman" or something similar.

    Anyone recognize it?

The back of the painting has an interesting label stuck to the masonite. Note the date of 1959 in the upper right corner.

This is a long shot, but the name "Hannes Beckmann" popped up in my searching.

His style doesn't match this piece at all, but what I found interesting is that as well as a painter, he was a photographer. The fact that my painting is done on what looks like a board that was part of a container that photographic plates came in is coincidental.

I haven't found a lot of signatures, but what I've seen isn't completely different from the one on my piece.

And his working time frame in the U.S. would coincide with the 1959 date on the back.

As I said, it's a long shot especially considering the stylistic differences.

Here's are links to some information about Hannes Beckmann:

Hello, it's much easier for people to look at the images in the thread. Plus, many folks here don't like clicking/tapping external URLs.

Hit Edit. Go to the More Options box at the bottom. Click on that and you'll see where you can upload photos. If you run into the Too Large error - do this:

Email your photo to yourself selecting size Medium. This will do the trick. Here are two threads about how to resize pictures based on your phone type, if you need more help. When you post your pictures, please make sure you click on Insert as "Full Image" at the top of your pictures.
