Did you get the ebay announcement? They are going to collect all payments.

I just received an email from ebay. They are going to collect payments for all transactions. It said it will be a multi-year change and Paypal is still available. It was very vague without a lot of details, just a lot of the usual ebay hype how good it will be for sellers. When has that ever proved to be true? It wasn't clear if Paypal will hold the payments for ebay.

Here is a link to an announcement page:

I just read that email. WTF??????????

"eBay intends to further improve its customer experience by intermediating payments on its Marketplace platform. In doing so, eBay will manage the payments flow, simplifying the end-to-end experience for buyers and sellers."

It would sound better if they hired somebody who knew how to write clearly in English.

Amazon must have taken a big bite out of ebay's sales.

That puts paid to direct deposits into the seller's bank account, then.

Soory MCT, I didn't see this post when I responded to the other thread - link below.
They didn't give much information so it is hard to figure out how this will work. I'm wondering what the fees will be like. The company is the same one that Etsy uses (according the the Adyen site).

At the bottom of each notice is a link for your input. Please take the time to give an appropriate response(will likely be ignored).

There is a huge increase in their wanting to change things again recently. I can't say as one of them has been for the better.

I recently was participating in 'ebay expressions' where they claim to be seeking seller's input. basically it was framed like:
    a) Do you want to pay 50% fees and have your genitalia removed
    b) Do you want to pay 80% fees and retain your genitals

The members have overwhelmingly voted for higher fees!

They are looking at their bottom line and how to increase their own revenue ONLY.
Etsy was able to increase their revenue nicely by doing this same thing along with some sellers paying for promoted listings as well (which I don't use).
    Just my 2 cents.

I don't see that option on the notice I received.

When I first started on Ebay they had their own payment system but I don't remember how I got paid.
From what I have been reading this payment system will (supposedly) pick up buyers that don't use PayPal, so that would be a good thing. I know I get questions from people wanting to know if they can pay with a money order as they don't use PayPal.

Once it became evident that ebays profit was being generated more by Paypal...than the site itself.....that ushered in a whole new way of thinking..!!

Show me the money.....became.....Let's grab the money !!

Being Dutch, I will let you in on a secret. Adyen is Dutch, and this is all part of a devious Dutch plan to take over the world.:D
The same is happening here on the forum. Davey, being the astute moderator he is, already noticed we now have more Dutch than Brits on the forum.:jawdrop: Don't be fooled by our charming avatars, we are the fifth column.:peeking::blackalien:
If this is my last post on the forum, you will know that I've been arrested for treason.....:hilarious:

As a buyer, I have had countless problems with paypal over the years. Never had any with Adyen, which has been used here for over ten years now.
In 2016 Etsy chose Adyen for global payments. As far as I know, it has worked fine so far, for both buyers and sellers.

I am not so much worried about Adyen as I am about ebay being in the mix. Management of that company has shown that they could screw up a 1 man parade. :(:(

I may be in the minority, but I have had no real problems using Paypal. The buyers pay me & most times I transfer it to my checking account after I print out their shipping label. It is usually in my account the next business day.

Also the part about it being cheaper for the seller, if you believe that I have some swampland down in Florida I will be very happy to sell to you. :p:p:p:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think the devil will be in the details.

Ebay always make things sound lovely, till they hit you with the hammer and leave you stunned.

I, knock wood, have not had much trouble with PP and I like that I can call them and speak to a real person to try to sort things out.
