The messages are just too much. Imagine my aunt living all her life in rural NH and dreaming of travel. She joins a postcard club and gets lovely images and messages from all over. She can live vicariously through her postcards. Here's one example. Banff Springs Hotel, Alberta, Canada. You could almost write a book. IMG_7845.jpg IMG_7846.jpg

Bev, I know exactly what you mean! Sort of reminded me of a Thoreau quote:

Friends... they cherish one another's hopes. They are kind to one another's dreams.

Why do you have to sell them? It seems like the perfect thing to keep, to me.

    Bev,

I drive past that Hotel once a year or so. It is about 1.5 hours from my house :)

My problem is that there are so many perfect things to keep! I'm trying to weed out.

Maybe find a creative way to display, but which side up? Is it the scenery or the sentiment from these people you never met that's important? Or just the age of them? Can you tell I wouldn't have any trouble letting go? :)

It's part of my family history. Most of the hundreds and hundreds (really) are from her Postcard Club. The ones of the Canadian Rockies are wonderful. I definitely want to keep the ones from various family members. We had one great-aunt whose husband took advantage of an offer of farm land in Iowa in the early 1900s. Several of my mother's cousins were born out there and they corresponded regularly with postcards.
