I'm always looking for old or nice brass and copper, but have never run into an antique stirrup before. Apparently these don't have much value, but I'm still curious if anyone knows how to evaluate when and where these are made; they aren't mentioned in The Brass Book or other reference books I have.

They have a nice old repair with copper rivets; with punched initials and nice decoration on the sides (you can see that they split along the decoration lines).

    Anyone see these before?.

It's all in balancing in the "seat" and the knee that went under the part of the saddle (one over--one under), King.....but many also DID fall off....swooning into the arms of the handsome Prince riding along with them.......:happy::happy::happy::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::smuggrin::smuggrin:;)

The link I put in my first post says that until a stirrup was added, the horse of a woman riding side saddle had to be led by someone because the seat was so insecure. KOT's question about making turns made me realize I didn't really know how a side saddle works, that pix always show the side with the gown draped down, so went looking & was so glad to find the one I posted. I love that researching items leads to knowledge about all kinds of things.
