This was originally from a high-end NYC gallery (hence the custom-made stand). I was told it might be from a tribe whose name I'm forgetting - Dogon? Something similar.

I'm naturally very curious about this piece, i.e. what tribe, what it's called (I assume it was used as a drinking vessel) and value. And where would be the best place to sell it? Many thanks!

p.s. do folks prefer thumbnails (that can be clicked on) or full images on posts?

Thanks, both of you. It certainly resembles the ebay one. Somewhere I wrote the name of the tribe on a piece of paper......

Can't help with the item, but since you asked, I prefer full image posts. Maybe others will have thoughts.

Well, that might not be entirely correct, either. The Siddi, who live in Gujarat in western India are descendants of the African Bantu. They have lived in India since about 628 AD, and have maintained their cultural identity.

Having to click on photos and open in a new window or tab is a pita

Terry, you don't need a new window or tab with these.
They just open and give you a really good look at a big, clear, photo.
Might take 2 nano-seconds longer, and the photos are so easy to see then.

Hokeypix, I hope you are happy now! Because of this post about the *bladder*, I had a dream about going to Ulan Bator last night. :woot::D

What is this..........are you reaching for obscure facts just to prove I'm wrong ?
Or are you stating that the powder horn was made by the Siddi ????
