Hello Board Friends! I'm looking for help with this cracker jar. It's got it's problems (missing handle, metal repainted) but I really liked it and the price was right. Color shades down from a dark pink at the top to a very light pink at the bottom. It stands 7 1/2" tall to the top of the finial and about 5" across. It's a little unusual in that the decoration is raised. I'm assuming a transfer was applied and acid was applied to the uncovered areas. I would appreciate knowing anything about it - age, country of origin, etc. Thank you very much for whatever information you can provide.
    Don

I'm inclined to US, 1950s. You have both faux opals and what look like AB stones on there.

I think probably the faux opals (a pair of earrings?) were glued there to cover the bracket for the missing handle.
I would have bought this piece in a heartbeat if the price was right, so pretty.

I was able to detach one of the faux pearl pieces and they do look like they had a previous life as earrings. And that makes so much sense now! Will investigate Rubina glass. So it does look like the color of the metal may be original? Thanks for all your comments everyone. Y'all are the best!

    I'd guess that's from ca. 1895 ± 5. Nice piece.

Thank you, Cherryhill. The earrings really do it a disservice. One they are off it actually looks much less "cheesy."

Perfect color & decoration for a Valentine's Day while the Olympic Games are in progress! "Biscuit jar' might be another search term.
