Blue Agate(?) Quartz Bookends w/Heart Shape inside; Real?

I found these last week at a thrift store & just found them again yesterday in my van! (I have a ... few things, that I bought but haven't gotten around to bring inside yet. When it gets too much & I bring them in and open the bags it's like Christmas because I've forgotten half the stuff I found!)

I think these are agate? quartz, but looking at others on ebay I can't find another with the heart shape, plus the mark on the side of the right one (photo 3 - looks kinda like blue mother of pearl slice?) - are these real(natural) or could they have been dyed?
In photo 2 you can see the crystals inside the small hole at the bottom of each, so I think they are real - but could someone dye a heart shape, etc into one?
    Thanks for any info

I'd say dyed to emphasise the natural formation. Try a bit of damp microfibre or towel cloth in a not too conspicuous place, see if you can get any colour.

    Another vote for dyed.

    Hi,
Looks like a nice size geode. I agree with the dyed.

I saw some very much like these at Home Goods recently, but I could be wrong.

Another vote for dyed; but the heart and other shapes are natural, just a result of the direction in which the geode was cut. And yes, it is agate and quartz; two forms of the same mineral, commonly found in geodes such as this, though geodes can contain a number of different minerals.
Such items are not particularly rare; can be imported and sold at reasonable cost in décor or gem/mineral outlets; but are still pretty.

I think as above, Home Goods a likely source.
