Age & Origin of Old, UNUSUAL, Wood & Forged(?) Wrought Iron 2 Story Chest?

I found this today at my local thrift store. It's made of wood & hand forged(? look at end of handles) wrought iron, and is a really unusual looking 2 story chest; it almost looks top heavy!
A note: the hinges or pins? that hold the handles on the chest and the drawers are both very oversized?
Can anyone tell me what is was for?
Where it may be from?
And how old it might be?
Any information would help - I don't have a clue!

I can’t help you with the piece but I just wanted to remark that your thread titles are great @journeymagazine !

 

Thank you; I was the creator & editor (& proof reader, ad sales, layout artist, etc.) of a magazine for almost 6 years (until economy crashed & my advertisers went to pay per click online!). So I guess catch the eye is drilled in me!
PS - The guy who did my covers from issue #2 till the end was Jim Warren - he won a Grammy award for the cover he created on Bob Segar's 'Against the Wind' album!

These are some of my covers (that is my daughter sitting in the O of journey on every issue & Jim on the cover of our 3 year anniversary issue on bottom row!).
It was like a People magazine for the recovery community (most of our advertisers were rehabs, counselors, etc) - and it grew from 10,000 copies to 25,000 copies & 24 pages to 48 pages within a year!

 

Very cool covers, and by the way, your catchy/interesting descriptions must really help your ebay selling
