Glass? What is it?

    Silicon. It is metal. The end of a billet from making chips.

    Kind of complicated, silicon boule, so how would I be able to sell it or is it something that has already been used and what I have us waste?

    You have the waste part. Ornamental value only. Some geek would like it for a paperweight.

    I've sold many of those on eBay for good money - at least $100 a piece. One professor bought 3 for his teaching assistants as appreciation gifts. I sold 4 recently to a graduate student doing some sort of study on them.
    Some of mine were 5" long.
