    Hie!

I saw this cute bowl on a local auction, the current price is 4$

Any idea how old it is? Judging from the pictures it has no makers mark but it looks old, maybe 1890-1920s? Any ideas?
    Thanks!

That's bad star cracking on it, sadly.

Just in the glaze tho. I still like it, gives it character.

Problem is, unless you can ping it, you don't know if it's in the body.

The seller wrote 'water doesn't drip through base' which is a good sign. It's on the down side anyways.
As it appears no one can help me place it in a time period?

Are there two holes, one in the lower part of the bowl and one near it in the base itself (third photo)? They look like hanging holes for a display piece, which is extremely odd for a pretty white bowl, and also would let water out, contrary to the seller's statement. As for date it's hard to comment except to say it doesn't look very old to me, but very difficult to find out without a maker. The star cracks suggest not brand new, but that's the only clue!

Do you have this bowl? In my experience, cracking like that is not just in the glaze.

I found a few more on google, same shape different patterns. None of those have a mark and some have holes on the bottom to be displayed.
If they were modern wouldnt they have marks?
It doesn't look that new to me, maybe around ww1?

The lack of water dripping through isn't an indicator that the cracks are surface only. Those look all through. The holes are there because it's a planter. I'd think 70s or 80s ish.
