Taking the tag sale stuff would be one thing; lots of folks give away leftovers, but ransacking a house that's obviously still being lived in...eek.

Who leaves their door unlocked in this day and age ?!? Still, that was nothing but a horde of thieves. They knew what they were doing.

    that's just cruel...

I would have taken down ever license plate on the street.......at least then there would be suspects...

The response that the police gave is almost as shameful as the thieves themselves. This was not a "mistake", the police need to put down the donut and start tracking down the culprits.

I think a neighbor that's pissed with her for whatever reason, knew she left the door open and got back at her in this way. I've read of similar cases.

My friend bought an apartment and advertised on Craigslist that everything needed to be hauled out for free. Poor black churches
came with trucks and locusts couldn't have done a better job of
clearing things out in minutes. It was nice to know that most of it
was going to families in need or sold to benefit them.

I didn't realize there was anyplace in the country people still left their doors unlocked when they weren't home. It's like the scene in the Hobbit when Bilbo returns after a year to find he has been declared dead & his possessions are being sold.

Yes, looters had to know what they were doing & police useless.

Talk about learning a lesson the hard way.

Something wrong here. Police say no suspects? I don't think that that is very likely. Owner didn't take down info on cars people were in? Seems odd.

Sorry to be cynical, but maybe the owners sold off most of their stuff at their tag sale a few weeks before, and are faking an insurance claim.

Something is definitely rotten. When I first read the story I thought for sure it was a April Fools joke but apparently not.

There was a case near here several years ago when an address for a "giveaway for free - come get it" ad was posted on Craig's by "enemies" of the occupant. If that many people showed up at a supposed estate sale, there had to be something along those lines going on here.

Absolutely! And even more so, I think. Sounds like our local police.:punch::punch::punch:

    Hi,
A while back my address had a problem like that my house was 14 East Bowling Green. I was the first house on the block. Across the street (a really busy road) was
14 West Bowling Green. When people moved into new addresses on West Bowling Green a lot people forgot East and West and I was getting so much mail and parcels for West Bowling Green it was ridiculous. The building on West Bowling Green was an apartment building 9 tenets. This went on for years until I moved. Tenets would have sales and people always showed up at my house for the sale.Quite a few times i would forget to lock my doors and I would find people in my house holding things.

I have to say we don't bother locking our house when we go out during the day. We are both retired so most of the time one or both of us are home. Some of our neighbors are the same way, others have security cameras and motion detector lights all around their houses, it's a real mix here :joyful:

    Hi,
I remember a few years ago I was looking for a house in the country. I stopped at a Realtor and she gave me a list of 15 houses to look at. I said aren't you coming? and she no, the houses are all open when you come back we can talk. I went to see 15 houses non of them locked no one home. It was very strange people did not even clear the kitchen table There sat dirty dishes and unmade beds. It was too unreal but then I remember when we did not lock the door even in the city,
