    Might well be India brass. They are certainly an old style but my guess is recent manufacture. One photo looking down in the holder part shows poor casting, finishing, or both in the top surface. I seriously doubt that’s “old world craftsmanship.” The turned rings in some parts show no losses due to polishing over a long period.

    It's a style similar to something made back in the 1600s and 1700s, but as the others have said - something THAT old would've been polished regularly to scrape off old wax and stuff.

    That's not to say they ain't pretty. I'd buy those in a heartbeat!
